Damau Household Milk Farm

This is a Public-Private Partnership between Kaduna State Government and Arla Foods of Denmark and Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria.

The Project seeks to settle 1,000 herders in a controlled area (82 square km.), provide them with mil-producing cattle and pasture, while they sell the milk to the Company. The site is divided into 5 Districts of 200 herders. Each District contains 10 Clusters of 20 herders, with each herder allocated a 4-5 Ha of land.

The Project is composed of the following components:

• Design and Construction of 1,000 2-bedroom house, cattle sheds and calf pens, shared facilities (primary schools, health clinics, veterinary clinics, skill acquisition centres, mini markets and security posts.

• Water Supply treatment, storage and distribution, external electrification

• Design and construction of access roads and bridges

• Environmental and Social Impact Analysis of the Project Area and existing settlements

• Procurement of 14,000 high milk yield cows for the herders

• Developing an Irrigation Scheme to feed the cattle during the dry season.
